This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 08 May 1958, page 10: "Parents of pupils at the Palmerston Intermediate Normal School today went on a tour of the classrooms and saw for themselves the up-to-date methods of education. The open day was organized by the headmaster (Mr. B.E. Jackson). Here in the woodwork room at the school a section of the parents show keen interest in the activity of two members of the class. From left are Mrs. E. Lucas, Mrs. A. Robson, Mr. J.A. Graham and Mr. J.O. Brassell."
