On Wednesday 3rd November 2021 River Stop Awapuni held an event at Boho Cafe to celebrate the Awapuni neighbourhood, as part of city-wide Local History Week celebrations.

Murray and Dawn Griffin gave a talk at the event. Murray and Dawn have lived in Awapuni for 57 years, and when they began their life in Awapuni, their home in Maxwells Line was surrounded by farmland. It was here they established stables and became iconic figures in the rich horse racing history of the Manawatū.

Manawatū People's Radio were present at the event and have kindly shared their audio files for our archives. Click here to listen to the audio.
