Broadcast on Manawatu People's Radio, 27th June 2023.  Part 1 of 2. Born and grew up in Christchurch. 1967 started training to be a dental nurse. Description of training. Supervision. To Auckland for a year. Lonely work as a school dental nurse. 6 monthly treatment, so dental problems caught early. Married in 1974. Ashburton. Further training in 1976. Fewer new dental nurses being trained in 1970s, trained nurses staying in the workforce more. Travel overseas, then family and stopped work. Not expected to work after having children. Returned to work when children were school aged. Enjoyed time at home with young children, good community. In Manawatu. Admin work at Manawatu Polytech. Back to dental nurse training school for 12 weeks in 1995 (Wellington), higher level training than in 1960s.
