T Gundersen home and tailor shop, Main Street

Torkil and Kari Gundersen married before leaving for New Zealand on the Celeano in 1870. They first settled near Whakarongo, then purchased this land in Palmerston North from which Torkil ran his tailoring business (1879-c1884) They left NZ for the United States of America (USA). Torkil was reputed to be Palmerston North's first tailor, appearing in the "Wellington Almanak" in that occupation in 1872.
