Batik artists Tony Burton and Dinah Priestly show their work to the Mayor, Mr Elwood (left) and the Managing Director of the Manawatu Evening Standard, Mr P Henson. The works were commissioned by the Manawatu Evening Standard to celebrate the newspaper’s centennial. The six hangings depict scenes from Palmerston North’s beginnings and were hung in the Civic Centre. They are currently located in the Civic Administration building and the City Archives.
