The Eventide Home, designed by Reginald and William Thorrold-Jaggard, was built as a Rest home and hospital for the elderly. Lord Cobham, Governor General of New Zealand (at left), opened the building and was handed a gold key, traditionally given by the architects to the visiting dignitary, by William Thorrold-Jaggard (at right). In 1961 it was renamed as the Brightwater Home.
