The street closest to the Manawatu River is Park Road (right hand side) and Botanical Road (left hand side). West End School in Botanical Road can be seen, beyond is Savage Crescent. The golf course is alongside the Manawatu River which is now the site of Awatapu College, housing and the Lido.
