A painter puts the finishing touches to the new hostel before 130 boys move in. The hostel took 2 years to build and cost about $1 million.

Palmerston North Intermediate Normal was opened 5 Feb 1941. It was one of the earlier intermediate schools established in New Zealand, whereby it took the pupils of the last two years of primary school, to better prepare them for secondary school.
