This courtyard was once situated in front of the Civic Centre. The photograph looks back at the Civic Administration Building (CAB), but the bridge no longer exists. The Customer Service Centre is now located in the gap shown between these two buildings. The Sunken Gardens and courtyard were incorporated into Te Marae o Hine courtyard when The Square was redeveloped in the 1990s.
