Hopwood Clock Tower

The clock tower was constructed with money donated by Arthur Hopwood, a local businessman in 1955. The sound shell as seen in this image was removed in the 1990s and the tower extended by the additions of a 'lantern' at the top in the 2000s.

Memory Lane - "Voice of kaumātua lives on"

Journalist Tina White's weekly "Memory Lane" article in the Manawatū Standard. The life and death of notable Rangitāne leader Kerei Te Panau. His funeral procession in 1908 attracted large crowds. The Hopwood clock tower chimes are named after him.
