Mrs Isabella Luxford

Mrs Isabella Eleanor Carolina Luxford (nee Gonzales) was the wife of William Lewis Luxford who was a farmer, timber merchant, sawmiller and on the Borough Council from 1887 to 1896. She was originally from Italy, born in 1853 and died in 1931.

Matilda Kennedy

Mrs Kennedy (nee Mellon) was married to John Kennedy. She came to New Zealand from Australia and lived on the West Coast. She knew Richard Seddon and it was a choice between him and Kennedy for a husband. She died at Te Awamutu c1920.

Unidentified Baby

The glass plate of this picture has "Henry" scratched into it. The toddler is possibly the son of Matthew Henry, who established a Stock and Station agency in Palmerston North or the son of Mr Shailer, who took the image.

An unidentified woman is seated in a rocking chair on a porch and knitting socks. She is wearing makeup to make her appear as an elderly woman. This was part of a set of glass negatives found with no information - see 2010G_Unknown_3559 - 3566.

Mr Batchelar was an early breeder of Romney sheep at Fitzherbert and was one of the first directors of the Longburn Freezing Co. He owned the property that Massey Agricultural College was first established on.
