Governor General Sir Bernard Fergusson addresses the crowd at the opening of the Palmerston North Public Library. The three-storey library building was opened on 4 November 1965 and served as the city's library until 1996. Behind him can be seen the Mayor (Mr. G.M. Rennie) and other official guests who are seated on a raised platform outside the Public Library.
