Photograph of a mural on the exterior wall of Te Manawa.

"Reflections" is a work commissioned by Te Manawa and was part of the community event Art On Edge 2012 edition. It was created in partnership with the community in a number of important ways, in 2017.

The woman represented on the wall is Ariana Te Awe Awe who was chosen for her meaningful ties to the local community. The symbolism of the mural represents her journey to discover her whakapapa and her role in the community.

The mural was created, in part, by youth of the city who were taught the process, meanings and its relationship to site as it lies on a wall that houses the regions taonga and sits at right angles to a window design depicting the heritage and symbolism of the Manawatu region.
