This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 16 January, 1964. "A frogman, Mr Clive Lohta, certainly made some strange finds when grubbing on the bed of the Centennial Lake yesterday morning. He was clearing underwater obstructions for the opening of the Carnival of the Lake tomorrow. Before finding this water-soaked branch and bottom weed, he brought out several concrete blocks."
