Physical Drill, Awapuni Military Camp

Description

A group of recruits perform stretches alongside the track at the Awapuni Racecourse. This was home to one of New Zealand’s largest training camps in World War One, and was the sole location for training the New Zealand Medical Corps staff. The inscription on the reverse reads: "A snap taken during physical drill. X marks me
Awapuni Sept 20. 1918."
