Description

This image was taken (but not used) for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18th January 1966 "Army engineers construct a bailey bridge over the te Awa-o-te Atua stream on the Pohangina East Road -- the scene of a bridge wash out in March 1965. The old wooden bridge in the foreground collapsed and was washed away by flood waters. A temporary, short, bailey bridge spanned the gap, but his was replaced yesterday with a new, but still temporary, bailey bridge."
