Palmerston North marked the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war on 15 August, with a wreath-laying service at the Cenotaph in the Square. Dignitaries were piped on to the concourse by the Pipes and Drums of Palmerston North. As well as the wreath laying, city flags flew, a lament was piped and the clocktower bells rang.
Laying wreath is Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Joe Hollander, RNZE (PNRSA Vice-President); Palmerston North Returned, accompanied by Services Association Brigadier (Retired) Evan Torrance, who is PNRSA Welfare Trust Chair and Manawatū Officer’s Club Patron.
