Palmerston North marked the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war on 15 August, with a wreath-laying service at the Cenotaph in the Square. Dignitaries were piped on to the concourse by the Pipes and Drums of Palmerston North. As well as the wreath laying, city flags flew, a lament was piped and the clocktower bells rang.
