Gus Mansford in his mayoral robes. He was Palmerston North Mayor 1931 - 1947.

Augustus Edward Mansford was born in Nelson c. 1886. He came to Palmerston North in 1907, and began an auctioneering business before becoming an accountant. He was a noted sportsman in his youth. He was awarded the O.B.E. in 1946, and died 13 June 1962.
