The photographs in this collection are thought to have been taken in the Forty Mile Bush area of Wairarapa, at Kaiparoro near Mount Bruce. The area was largely settled by Scandinavians who came to Wairarpa in the 1870s to clear the bush. The unidentified men and dogs are returning to their tent camp. The album from which they come has been identified as relating to Alfred and Eliza Falkner.
