This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 17 June 1958, page 8: "Preparations for grassing in the Spring were being made at the intersection of Princess Street and Broadway Avenue today. Top soil was spread over the section and the planting of grass will follow. It is possible that flower beds may be set into the grass."
