This image was published in the April 16th, 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper with the caption “Yaakov Morris: Israeli ambassador to New Zealand for nine months. Belfast-born and raised, he's been the spokesman for the Israeli mission to the United Nations. He's served in Israeli embassies in England, Ireland and Africa, and has a lengthy political career.”
An excerpt from the article read: “Telling Israelis to "turn the other cheek" and accept aggression without retaliation is to for the West Bank under invite Israel's destruction. The Israeli ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Yaakov Morris. said this in an interview with the Tribune in Palmerston North last Sunday. Mr Morris was at Massey to talk to two Jewish groups, and also to answer criticism of Israel which had been levelled by the Tribune's columnist, Cicero, and the Massey student newspaper, "Chaff “. The Christian "turn the other cheek" ethic was offered by Cicero as a way of preventing further unrest in the Middle East, and a way to a way to help the formation separate Palestinian state.”
