Description

The former C M Ross Company Ltd building, built in 1927 - 1928, was bought by the Palmerston North City Council in 1993, to become the new Central Library. It was opened in 1996. The former public library on the opposite side of The Square was on the corner of Main Street and had served as the City Library since 1964. This video shows the former library in operation in the early 1990s and also scenes of the construction of the new library, designed by architect Ian Athfield.
