Description

G.W. Shailer's cherry orchard in Skandia Street, covered in netting. After working as a photographer in Palmerston North, George Shailer retired to land in Hokowhitu, where he developed an orchard and became interested in inventions, patenting several items. Skandia Street was renamed Albert Street in 1926.
