Beyond the gardens can be seen the Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd (T&G) building in Palmerston North. Designed by A and K Henderson in the distinctive 'house' style developed by the firm, this iconic structure was built in 1938 and still stands today near the corner of Broadway Avenue and The Square.
