A hand-coloured plan produced by the prominent local architect Ludolph George West (1846-1919). Born in Denmark, he arrived in New Zealand 1868 and was one of the early settlers of Palmerston North. He was very active in the community and among other things served as Borough Councillor 1884-1886, 1887-1889 and Mayor 1886-1887.
