The Salvation Army was established in Palmerston North in 1883. This photograph was taken in front of the Salvation Army Barracks, later the site of the Municipal Chambers and now 'Square Edge', Arts and Cultural Centre. Note: the photograph has been printed back to front, as evidenced by the writing on the front of the building.
