This image shows a scooter boy meet up at the observatory in 1986. The scooter boys form a sub-culture similar to the Mods and was popular between the 1970s and c.1997. The sub-culture featured both young men and women riding Italian scooters who often wore Doc Marten boots and military surplus jackets sown with patches.
The sub-culture was popular in Britain where large scooter rallies often took place.
