A photograph of nine basketball players from Palmerston North Girls High School. In the 1940s, basketball was the term for what is modern-day netball. The first High School in Palmerston North opened in 1902 for both boys and girls, and remained co-educational until the opening of the PNGHS in Fitzherbert Street (now Avenue) in 1920.
