“Skyhawks Fly Out – Phantoms Fly in”

Description

These images were taken for the September 3rd 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper – the first of which was published.

An excerpt from the article read: “Eight Skyhawk aircraft from Number 75 Squadron, based at Ohakea, are now taking part in a joint exercise with three other airforces in Malaysia and four USAAF Phantoms are now at Ohakea. The Skyhawks, under the command of Wing Commander J. Hosie, left Ohakea on August 25 and are to return home on October 5. The major part of the exercise is taking place at the Butterworth air base at Penang, in Malaysia, and aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Malaysian Air Force, and Republic of Singapore Air Force are also participation.”
