This image was taken by John White during one of two parades the Palmerston North Fire Brigade took part in during the 1971 Centennial celebrations in Palmerston North.
The Manawatu Evening Standard reported that “Fire appliances from the 1860s to the present day, one appliance representing every decade [paraded] through Palmerston North on August 31 and September 4 to mark the closing of the Centenary.”
This image depicts a 1928 Dennis engine.
