Description

Milson Airport opened for commercial services in 1936. A ceremony took place at Milson Aerodrome prior to the departure of the aircraft. Identified persons: D Black (possibly), Chief Postmaster (7th from left in bowler hat); A E Mansford, Mayor of Palmerston North (8th from left) Mrs Mansford (9th from left); J Hodgens, Member of Parliament for Palmerston North (5th from right with hands crossed). Also includes Messrs D F Smillie & K G Chamberlain of Milson Aerodrome Inc.; Messrs A J Graham & S I McKenzie, President and Secretary of Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce; W A Waters, representing the Manawatu Aero Club. The cameaman, far right, made a movie film of the occasion for the Palmerston North 50,000 Club (whereabouts unknown).
