ZK_AFD was an important Lockheed Electra 10a, built in 1937. It was often the first plane to fly new national routes in the 1930s and 1940s. Eight aircraft eventually operated in New Zealand - seven for Union Airways/NAC and one for Trans Island Airways. Milson Airport was established in 1936, on the site of the Palmerston North Aero Club.
