Guitar vocalist Hazel Mercer, balancing act Garth Scott and Ray McKenzie, The Wood sisters, Eddie Davis, Larry Sykes and Tommy Scandle, Johnny and the Jags and eventual winner of the Palmerston North performance Joe Nathan.Joe Brown’s Search for Stars was a travelling radio broadcast that began in 1959 and unearthed future New Zealand stars such as Dinah Lee and Bunny Walters. The compere was Selwyn Toogood.
