Bush Tramline, serving Richter, Nannestad & Co's Albert Street Sawmill.
- Description
Mr Rosanowski wrote that “the photo was taken off Boundary Road into the aerodrome section”. This would indicate that that is near the site of the present Palmerston North Airport, near Milson Line. The tramline in the photograph evidently ran along Boundary Road (Tremaine Avenue) to Tram Street (Heretaunga Street), and then on to the sawmill, which was situated on the east side of Albert Street between Grey Street and Broadway Avenue. The tramline served Richter, Nannestad & Co’s Albert Street Sawmill in Palmerston North. Men identified as, from left: Anton Michalick – Contractor and employer of the following men; Emil Berthal, tram expert; Jan Iskirka, bushman; August Rosanowski, horse driver and trolley expert; Jack Shimiski, bushman; Harry Beards, bullock driver; Joe Krivan, bushman
