The camp was situated on the property of H J Rutherford of Komako in the 1870s. The tents were home to a gang of 'bush-whackers' employed by Dick Port and Alex Stewart on their bush felling contract. Dick Port is sixth from left in foreground, with right hand on hip and left hand on axe. Edgar Savell is the boy in the foreground second from right with his axe on knee. Jack Enright might be the man on far left sitting.
