Description

M H Oram, later Sir Matthew Oram, Member of Parliament, first President of the Manawatu Aero Club, speaking at the opening of the Club's landing strip. The airstrip was on the site of the present day Palmerston North airport, which began operating as Milson airport in 1936. Mr Billy Water is wearing a hat on the platform to the right of the 'Plume' pump. Also see 2009n_av11_tra_2256.
