This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on March 29 1958, page 12: "The children of the Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School are seen taking part in the Shell Traffic Trainer, a Lilliputian Village with miniature traffic lights, and various other safety signs that accost one on the road. The smaller children about to cross the road are from the College Street School. This is the first public demonstration of this trainer in New Zealand and the village cost the Shell Oil Company about £1000."
