Wilfred married Miriam Linda Mudford in 1912. They settled at Sandynook, a property that belonged to Herbert Hill Hunt (Manawatu County Councillor for 22 years, from 1910) and was located on Tompkin's Line opposite his brother Stan's farm. They had four children - Gladys, Dorothy, Linda and Wilf Jnr.
