This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 5 July, 1963. "Able Seaman T. Kettle explains a reaction timer to a visitor to the Royal New Zealand Navy Display Unit. This device was originally designed to assist in the selection of men for their reaction to under-water anti-submarine detection."
