Description

The correct spelling of the stream's name is Turitea (turi = water, tea = bright or clear). However, during the 1880s the Palmerston North Borough Council misspelled the name and the incorrect version (Tititea) passed into common useage. In 1991, after the matter of correct spelling was raised by Rangitāne, the PNCC requested that the correct spelling be restored by the New Zealand Geographic Board.
