Drawing of the Palmerston North Coat of Arms
- Description
The Palmerston North Coat of Arms features a lion standing atop a crest with a bird on the left side and a castle with the Union Jack flag on the right side. Underneath the crest are two branches arching upwards and around the crest. Around the top and bottom of this scene are two banners. The top banner states: "Palmerston North City Council. The bottom banner has the Latin motto: "Palman Qui Meruit Ferat" (let whoever earns the palm bear it).
This drawing was made for the Memorial Park war memorial that was opened in 1952. The park was originally called Fitzroy Park, but its name was formally changed to Memorial Park in 1954.
