This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 2 July, 1963. "Soon to be in service in the city is the Palmerston North Fire Board's new fire engine, valued at £4,900. It has now only to be fitted out with fire fighting equipment. Seen with the engine are Firemen W. F. Lochore and J. Story."
