James Hallam was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire in 1869 and died in Shannon in 1951. He had a passion for photography, hence many examples of his work still exist. He was also prominent in the rifle shooting club (secretary) and school committee. He served as vestryman and secretary for the Church of the Venerable Bede and synod rep for many years. Mr and Mrs Hallam were held in high regard in by the Shannon community.
