Manawatū Standard article. On 19 October 1966, US President Lyndon Johnson and his wife Lady Bird Johnson arrived at Ōhakea air base for the start of their New Zealand visit. Amongst the welcoming crowd was air force recruit Ray Mankelow, who captured historic photographs of the occasion.
