This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 21 February, 1959. "After three years of school cadet training, the Marist Brothers' High School held its first ceremonial parade yesterday afternoon in the school grounds. The photograph was taken during the inspection of the cadets, which was carried out by Captain G. Beaton, N.Z. Regiment, the Area Officer in Palmerston North. The photograph shows Captain Beaton (partly obscured) led by Platoon Commander B. Blandford, and flanked by Battalion Commander J. Whyte (partly obscured) and Company Commander A. Smith."
