This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 14 February, 1959. "Standing at attention for the photographer are these 10 members of the Freyberg High School cadet training band. An interesting feature of the band is that five of the members are girls of the school. The band's big test came yesterday when the end of barracks week at the school was celebrated, and the march-past of the battalian was held. The band performed excellently and helped to make the parade a success."
