This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 3rd December 1965 "New Zealand Breweries Limited has pleasure in announcing the opening of the Awapuni Hotel. Modern design of the new Awapuni Hotel in Pioneer Highway can be clearly seen in this aerial photograph. The main block on the left comprises the various bars and bottle store while on the right are the hotel suites, restaurant and coffee lounge, including a house cocktail bar. The car park at the rear has provision for over 500 cars."
