Description

On 17 August 2002, four commemorative plaques from the second Fitzherbert Bridge were unveiled fiexed to the remaining original 1935 bridge arches, now an archway near the cycle track in the Esplanade. After the 1935 bridge was demolished in 1987, the plaques were stored in the Palmerston North City Archives within the City Library. This occassion was part of other events held that day to mark the 125th anniversary of Palmerston North city.
