Wednesday 19th September, 2018 marked 125 years since New Zealand women achieved voting parity. As part of the celebrations, three Kate Sheppard camellia plants were planted at the Victoria Esplanade. This photo shows three women who were invited to plant the camellias. From left to right: Grace Fakatau - Deputy Chair of the Youth Council, Year 10 student at Palmerston North Girls High School, Rachel Bowen - Palmerston North City Councillor, Chair of the Arts, Culture and Heritage committee, and Janice Viles - Vice President of the Manawatu Branch of the New Zealand Council of Women.
